About League1 Ontario

The primary focus of our club is to inspire and enhance a pathway for young athletes through soccer and create an elite soccer experience for our local community.

We are a proud to play among the province's elite in League1 Ontario. League1 serves as a stepping stone between the high-performance youth level and elite amateur and professional levels of soccer in Ontario.

League 1 Ontario (L1O) is a semi-professional men's and women's soccer league in Ontario, Canada, and is sanctioned through FIFA through Canada Soccer Association and Ontario Soccer. Noted as a Division III league in the Canadian Soccer League pathway, the primary focus is the showcase and development of Canada’s future soccer players.

League1 Ontario serves as a stepping stone between high-performance youth level and elite amateur and professional levels of the game.

League1 Ontario is owned and managed by Canadian Soccer Business (CSB) and sanctioned by FIFA.

Opportunities for Players

Exciting opportunities await our League1 Roma Wolves players including direct resources to professional leagues in Canada (CPL) and potentially Europe.  Scouts from professional teams such as Toronto FC may monitor and select players with professional potential.  Scholarship opportunities through colleges and universities may also become available.

OUR HISTORY

The Wolf Pack

St. Catharines Roma Wolves are a Canadian soccer team, founded in 1967. The club is a former member of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL), where it fielded a professional team from 1998–2013, and now operates youth teams in the Peninsula Soccer League. Teams play out of Club Roma in St. Catharines, Ontario in the Niagara Peninsula. The team's colors are dark red and white, mimicking those of the famous Italian club A.S. Roma.

Formed in 1967 as Club Roma Soccer Association and competed in various local leagues. In 1977 the club renamed itself the St. Catharines Roma, and joined the National Soccer League. The club went through a golden era in the 1990s, and early 2000s winning several trophies in the National Soccer League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League.

League1 Ontario Structure

About League1 Ontario

League1 Ontario has announced restructuring of its competition model “2024 Plan”. Beginning in the 2024 season, the Men’s and Women’s competitions will be organized into three distinct tiers: L1O Premier, L1O Championship and League2 governed by a promotion and relegation system. To assign club positions into their respective tiers for the 2024 season, L1O teams competing in the Premier Division during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns will see all the points earned in regular season over those two years aggregated. However, points earned in 2022 will be worth only 75% while points earned in 2023 will be worth 100%.   .
